Our Family
A small home vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Laverne Vineyards is a family name and a family operated labor of love.
The Vineyard is named after Teresa's grandmother (Laverne Teresa), and originally established in San Louis Obispo by William (Bill) Cron. Laverne Vineyards has produced Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Chardonnay varietals, but their specialty has always been Cabernet Sauvignon. The label ceased production in the mid 1990's with the passing of Bill, the family patriarch. Although alive in spirit, the family label has since been dormant.
In 2017 Teresa and Chris have decided to bring back Cron family label, encompassing the memory of Bill and Laverne with the re-birth of Laverne Vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California. It's pinot grapes this time, a Santa Cruz Mountain specialty, but it's still the same family recipe of care and love that goes into every bottle we cork.
The Grapes
Did I say small? 151 vines of Pinot Noir (Clone 115) with alot of growing to do! It should take about two years before we have our first harvest, but don't worry... we have friends in the business and will be playing with some 'extra' grapes that our exact variety comes from. We'll be producing a barrel in the months to come, so keep watching to find out how we do!

Vineyard Update 2021
Another season of growing and wine making has come and gone. Our second year making 'estate' wine has not been without its ups and downs!
This years yield was about three times as much as last year, and the grapes stayed on the vine longer with harvest coming on October 2nd. We picked, de-stemmed, crushed, fermented and barreled. The occasional tasting with a wine thief indicates we may have another good year of pinot to bottle!! Thanks for following and we hope to see you soon at the vineyard!
